Jurassic World is a 2015 American science fiction adventure film directed by Colin Trevorrow. It is the fourth installment in the Jurassic Park film series. The screenplay was co-written by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Derek Connolly, and Trevorrow. The film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, B.D. Wong, and Irrfan Khan. Wong is the only actor from any of the previous films to appear in the film.
Set twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Jurassic World takes place on the same fictional island of Isla Nublar, where a fully-functioning dinosaur theme park has operated for ten years. The park plunges into chaos when a genetically-modified dinosaur, Indominus rex, breaks loose and runs rampant across the island.
Universal Pictures intended to begin production on a fourth Jurassic Park film in 2004 for a summer 2005 release, but the film entered over a decade of development hell while the script went through revisions. Steven Spielberg, director of the first two Jurassic Park films, acted as executive producer as he had for Jurassic Park III. Thomas Tull also acted as executive producer;his production company, Legendary Pictures, funded approximately 20 percent of the film's budget.Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley produced the film.

Twenty-two years after the disastrous inspection of Jurassic Park, a fully functioning replacement, still showcasing cloned dinosaurs, has been built, called Jurassic World. Brothers Zach and Gray Mitchell are sent there to visit their aunt, Claire Dearing, the park's operations manager. Claire's assistant Zara is their guide, as Claire is busy recruiting corporate sponsors with a new attraction, a genetically-modified dinosaur named Indominus rex, created using the DNA of several predatory dinosaurs, as well as modern-day animals including cuttlefish and tree frogs. Dr. Henry Wu, the park's chief geneticist, keeps the exact combination a secret.
Park employee Owen Grady works with the park's four velociraptors, who have accepted him as their alpha. Vic Hoskins, head of InGen security, believes the raptors can be trained for military use, but Owen disagrees. Jurassic World owner and CEO Simon Masrani asks Owen to evaluate the Indominus ' enclosure before the attraction opens to the public. Owen and Claire, who once dated but clashed over Claire's workaholic nature and Owen's irreverent personality, inspect the paddock. Owen warns Claire that the Indominus is particularly dangerous because it has never socialized with other dinosaurs.
